speaking at a greenpeace function commemorating the 20th anniverary of the bombing of the rainbow by french spies, clark sent out a strong message to national and the electorate about labours’ stance on the possibility of changing our nuclear-free status..
clark said the added threat of possible terrorist actions against nuclear -powered warships in our harbours strengthens the case for us to fight to retain the staus quo..
i reckon this one is an issue that will come back to bite national in the bum come ballot-box time…it is not just those on the centre-left who want new zealand to stay nuclear-free..i think we take pride in our stance(however misguided/self-deluding in some ways that may be..)..
and for us to give up our role as an example to the internatiional communityof the way things could/should/must be, is not a decision to be taken lightly..
brash is presenting a chimera of a free-trade deal as the rationale for a policy change..that, and what he describes as ‘..better relations..’ with washington…
(what does that mean..?..will they promise to wear a condom if we let in their nuke-ships..?..)
no thanks..we’ll stay celibate..
