if you stop using it after regular use you go through withdrawal symptoms including headaches, depression, and irritability..
it would have no chance of being accepted as a new product for these reasons alone..yet we are exhorted to consume more and more coffee, by scantily-clad germanics no less….
and coffee is synonomous with the colour black..cool..
yet, it’s a drug..and like other uppers like cocaine, meth, etc there is a law of diminishing returns..
and if you are up to five hits a day..could be time to join c.a….(the twelve step program didn’t ya know..)
my drug use (caffeine) reached a peak during the last general election..
i worked long hours/days as a volly for the greens..on the auckland campaign..for about three and a half months..
and partly fuelled by a colleagues raging habit i was up to 5-7 a day, with a serious co-dependency running..and with that law of diminishing returns kicking in..
the high lasts less time, and the need kicks in with ever escalating urgency..just like cocaine..
i kicked coffee after the election..and handled most of the withdrawals by relying on it’s gentler cousin, tea..
i’ve got it down to two cups of tea a day..which is managable…tea is to coffeee as methadone is to heroin…the formers lacking that emphatic high, and the latters lacking those slow-release qualities …
this piece is a health warning on coffee/caffeine addiction and possible medical complications/implications..
