this is a reasonable take on the budget..especially the ho-hum ‘tax cuts”..
if this was cullen showing us his “dark side” you’d have to conclude that the dark side for him is an underwhelming shade of beige…
(he should really have worn a beige tie, eh?..any red one is surely an embarrasment by now.. )..
sfa adressing environmental concerns..
(save for the carbon tax..which is part of any required recovery programme..but nothing to slow/halt/reverse/defer/deter the ongoing environmental degradation of our world/country..(y’know the stinking polluted lakes and rivers..the mountains of cow shit pouring into them/our watertables…the filthy air in auckland..on and on it still goes..this government seems to know the cost of everything and the value of nothing that really matters to/for us and our childrens’ childrens’ futures)
sfa for those this caring/sharing government has studiously ignored for two terms now…the poorest..
this does of course bring to mind perhaps the only utterance from jenny shipley i have any respect/time for…….
this was in her final days in parliament where she noted, (with an entirely appropriate, crooked, wry smile), that those who had railed longest and loudest against her when she “reformed” the social welfare system had, since they were in a position of power and able to “right those wrongs” done absolutely nothing…
game, set, and match… eh?
