i’m watching a local farming programme; there is a somewhat surreal vision of a combine harvester ripping through fields of marijuana, somewhere outside methven..
this is low thc weed grown for the seed oil..but it somehow looks out of place in a new zealand landscape with your typical low key farmer in the foreground yarning on about his crop..”yeah, and the seeds are looking pretty good this year…” surrounded by head high plants..ha!
what the farmer is saying about the quality of this years harvest; ie. hot days, cool nights, has made for a bumper high quality crop.. bodes well for affecianados of it’s blackmarket cousin..
meanwhile over in san francisco; check out the progress on their 73 registered medical marijuana clubs..and then vote in a government here that will reform our insane drug laws..
i have a recent personal experience of this injustice, through an accidental meeting with an ex lover who is now in a wheelchair as a result of a car crash..
she is in constant pain.. and marijuana eases that pain..why can’t she get it from her doctor?
when will this fucken inhumane insanity end?..
we need someone to test the law here by setting up a medical marijuana club, (ensuring strict guidelines are in place; any such operation must avoid any chance of being demonised as a covert retail outlet).
these are the two options as i see it..
on the political front, i know this labour government has it’s hands tied on this issue, by dunne and united future making no reform of the drug laws a condition of coalition..a pox on their house..
if dunne were not there, we would have seen some light and progress on this issue during this term of government, if only in the prescription of medical marijuana; surely the most urgent of the issues around cannabis.
so, voting out united future and giving your party vote to the greens would seem to be the way to go to get change on that level.
and as for who should set up a medical marijuana club?..
i think that should be down to those who have dined out/mediaed out, for years, on infufilled promises of direct action on the reform of marijuana laws..
so come in chris fowlie of norml..isn’t it about time you stepped up to the plate, mate?
we’ve had years of talk; how about some walk?
surely it’s not just all about getting an earn from flogging paraphenalia, is it mr fowlie?..
and if medical marijuana is not a rightous issue to stand up and fight for…and definitly in your self-professed brief..then what is?
i remember you returning from a study trip to europe some time ago, and recieving extensive media coverage, where you muttered about secret plans for direct action, and exhorted us all to watch this space..since then?..a resounding silence and lack of action..
i suggest you start by checking out how they did it in san francisco, and take it from there..
and i offer you this forum to press/publicise your
cause/fight..in whatever way you choose..be it by using us as a secure bulletin board, or whatever..
i look forward to posting on the progress of this issue…
