green mp sue bradford has a bill before the house to repeal section 59 of the crimes act..
section 59 is the exemption to the common assault laws that allows parent/caregivers the defence of justifiable force in their physical punishments of the children in their care..
(a recent successful defence using section 59 was in the case of a parent who took to their kid with a piece of 4 by 2..)
mps from all parties will be at a two day summit on child abuse being held in hamilton..and the summit organisers are to quizz all the mps on their stance/voting intentions when bradfords’ bill is decided…
