um..as a libertarian on this particular issue i can only thank property developer dave henderson for setting new benchmarks for those facing attempting to purchase charges..
henderson has just been sentenced for attempting to buy 10 grams of cocaine…
he has been convicted..no fine or anything (yes , i know he’s offered to give ten grand to a drug rehab centre)…and told to come up for sentence in nine months if called for…essentially a good thrashing with a soggy arrest warrent..eh?.
i wonder if henderson were poor and brown if he would have received the same sentence..?..don’t think so somehow..
but, of course, this new precedent in sentencing is a god-send for defence lawyers and their clients…so let’s take a positive spin..and just view this as a step on the road to sensible policies on mind-altering substances.. shall we..?..
update/correction..he got a $500 fine..
