i’m watching question time
fitzimons has done a good job questioning mallard on alternative energy sources obviating the need for the giant power pylons..
mallard has responded by smirking and weasel word/smarmy answers..he is perhaps the public face of labours arrogance..
brownlee has cemented his buffooon image (“hollycost” and all)
cullen, as always, is deft, especially at giving brownlee a solid toweling..mind you it’s an easy target…
mallard just nailed english(twice) by quoting from a briefing paper with brashs handwritten notes questioning the education policy..and then calling englishs’ bluff on tabling the document he was quoting from..national objected and the papers weren’t tabled..
of course for political junkies, watching question time is also notable for the earnest/amusing appearances by these people you have never seen/heard of before, who pop up to ask the patsy questions….ha!
the appearances by these unknowns also makes you realise what a good job the greens have done in getting their individual mps’ profiles before the public/voters..this showing the relative depths of talent in the different parties…
dyson ran a good defence against hide et al over tamihire
winston peters made a good showing of fighting for financial restitution for the berrymans (they are the farmers financially ruined by the defence dept witholding evidence over the collapse of a bridge on their property)…
bill english made a fair fist of attacking the govt on blowouts in education beaurocracy funding..and mallard retorted that tonights poll would show national in (my) long anticipated freefall…..
turei made an impassioned but misjudged go at mallard over special needs funding..he swatted that away by pointing out labour have increased special needs funding by $90 million and have just announced $30 million extra funding..did turei know this?…if so why did she set herself up?..if not, why not?..someones advisors need a caning?….
dyson is efficient, but appears humourless; and thus provides involuntary humour by po-faced ridiculous answers (tamihire appearing on tv/negotiating radio shows is just his way of handling stress. ha!)…
update; i’ve enjoyed blogging questiontime, (very much like commentating a sporting fixture), so i’m going to do it from here on in..i figure it will give something between the time committment to watching/listening, and the brevity of msm news..and i can have fun with it..and hope readers do as well..
