you thought it was all about idealistic pioneer settlers muttering and roaring about no taxation without representation..eh?
time for some revisionism/reality check..
the tea tossed inthe harbour was tax-free british tea…
this was done by local thugs at the behest of local merchants so those merchants with their more expensive (highly taxed) tea would retain their monopoly..(!)
and it wasn’t even really about tea any..
generations of wowserism, prohibition and disney have concealed the truth..
they just wanted to be able to continue to get pissed..
rum was the drink of choice in the colonys..and molasses (purchased from the french, who were of course, as always, hated, by the english..)
the english decided to tax the molasses used for the rum and charged the navy with what was over-vigorous enforcing of this new law..hence your american revolution..
