now , i’m no addict, so the finer points/nuances of the game fly right past me..(a major reason for watching is that it’s something the boy and i really enjoy doing..so.)…but on a visual/visceral level you’d have to rate last nights’ rugby test between the all blacks and the lions at about three out of ten..(the haka was a ripper though..did that do the job?..)
the lions were dismal..you could count the number of minutes they actually played rugby without getting to your toes..
and despite the all blacks overwhelming the lions in posession and territory..and the line-outs were taking candy from a baby…. it just wasn’t that exciting to watch..especially if you compare it to the lions/maori game, (once again justifying use of the word ripper..)
the boy and i yacked about it before the game, and agreed our favourite scenario was the all blacks winning one, the lions winning one..and the third test at eden park being a cliffhanger and a cracker of a game that the all blacks win in the closing minutes….
i don’t like our chances…..
(it’s all feeling a bit like brashs’ tax cut chimera..a long period of over-promising followed by the short, bitter for all, experience of under-delivery..sigh..)
update..having just seen the new footage of the o’driscoll injury, it is obvious umanga and ? spear-tackled him..and should face charges..
also, the biting lion..huh?
