it’s getting ugly up there on the national party backbench.
mc cully, (along with rith richardson one of brashs’ coterie), has a new neighbor; recently demoted katherine rich.
they can’t stand each other, and if rich is in the house, mc cully isn’t.
of course, this is indicative of the deep divisions within national between brash and the other fag ends of rogernomics vs. the moderates, symbolised by rich and english.
the right of national hasn’t quite grasped the reality that new zealanders will never elect a doctrinaire right wing government voluntarily.
a moderate national party with more of a human face, and even possibly more liberal than the right wing labour govt on some social issues, is the only model the new zealand swinging voters would consider.
what can’t be denied is that swinging voters decide elections; and that swinging isn’t from extreme right to extreme left or vice versa. it happens right in the middle.
