clark has wimped out on going to the lower marae on waitangi day….despite being invited..again…
this (i would imagine) is because she was ‘jostled’ by protestors a couple of years ago…
(maybe clark should call on sue bradford for some one-on-one counselling on how to repair/heal yourself after being traumatised by being ‘jostled in a demo’..eh..?..)
but (seriously) surely she (and her minders/advisors) must be aware that that was then..and this is now…
those frustrated voices raised at waitangi in the past now have their own political vehicle in the maori party..and therefor waitangi day is not their only annual opportunity to make a point..
that imperative for them has now gone..(they have questiontime in parliament now..)
and i am surprised that clark would appear to be so out of touch..as to not be aware of that…and therefor to show some testicular fortitude..and front up at te-tii……….
(and as yet another example of clark being out of touch…the reaction of the rest of us to her no-show..is..in the main..a shrug of iindifference..)
and on a personal note…having been to the dawn/waka ceremonies at te-tii in the past…and been suitably moved/impressed by the events….you’d have to ask why on earth clark would prefer a stuffy silver service ‘do’ up the hill at the white mans’ house…when she could be experiencing something that would/could truely touch her soul..and maybe even kick-start some healing….
her current ‘fortress approach’ to these issues is doing her no good at all..eh..?..and dosen’t bode well for the political future of labour either..(given the maori party will (possibly/probably) have about 10 seats next time out….and will likely be the fulcrum around which post-election coalition negotiations will swing..)
