Power subsidies will play right int the hands of energy corporate investors enabling them to raise prices as well as have increased demand. What the hell is Labour doing.
Regulation is necessary and well overdue. We need less demand from the wasteful luxury sector.
Labour is shrinking from taking the energy corps back to NZ Govt ownership and controlling prices.
Energy demand has slowed which is good in itself but unfortunately the rising prices have hurt basic use by poor households and wealthy consumers are not effectively curbed with flat rates.
Sensible use of our resources would demand a graduated price scale . Basic low rates for 1 to 2 units a day per person and an increasing scale for consumption above that. No corporate profit.
Roger Douglas “user pays” for the public and “welfare support” for the investor still has not been rejected by Labour.
