(ed: one of my favourite ‘humane-meat’ stories involves the former green party mp sue kedgley…
during a former life in the green party i asked/challenged kedgely on being a ‘green mp’ – yet eating animals/supporting the well-documented horrors/pollutions of the animal-exploitation-industries..
an indignant self-justification that reeked of so much more than just the stenches of the charnal-houses..
‘i only eat free-range/organic meat’….
and funny story..!..with/for that purler/howler/tunnel-vision kedgely actually was awarded the inaugural bullshit-on-a-stick-award..
and/but kedgely is not alone – unfortunately most current green mp’s still have those ‘free-range/organic’ charnal-house stenches wafting around them/their repastes ..
and that is kinda sad…
and w.t.f. are they thinking..?..(if at all)..these walking oxymorons..)
Whole Foods goes further than any other major grocer to advertise its alleged humane treatment of animals.
Consumers are confronted with mountains of marketing materials describing the happy lives of the animals raised on the farms that produce the products lining Whole Foods’ shelves.
The implication is that the company cares about the treatment of animals and that the purchase of animal-based products can be accomplished without causing suffering.
Competitors may hurt animals – but Whole Foods can be trusted.
It’s clever marketing—but it doesn’t represent the reality.
