(ed: i pretty much have/deserve an honorary doctorate in ways to get high – and i can report that there is a definite/constant high to be had from following a plant-based/vegan diet..
it is well-documented how vegetarians report generally ‘feeling better’ – in perhaps unquantifiable ways – from following that diet..
and i was vegetarian for 15 years before taking that next step – and i can confirm this..
and when i went vegan (about 20 yrs ago) my expectations for ‘feeling (even) better’ were low/not a factor in that decision..
so i was surprised to find that ‘feeling better’ component is much higher than the high to be had from going vegetarian..
..and it’s a constant high…
..and any ideas of this being a life of denial/desire-for-things-animal – are risible..
..so..there ya go..!
5. Having Sex: ‘Sex is natural – sex is good.
Not everybody does it but everybody should’.
George Michael – singer and fellow addict – shocked and impressed audiences in the mid-90s with this truth.
Sex – specifically orgasm – is linked to the kinds of natural highs we can only dream of recreating with a bottle or a pill.
After orgasm our bodies release beta-endorphins which are natural painkillers and give us a warm glow.
While many have to guard against using sex as a drug substitute – a healthy dose of sex is good for everybody.
