Wells says while the most important rugby treasure to bring back from the tournament is – obviously – the Cup – the collective is also hoping to ‘Bring back Buck’. Or at least a little bit of him.
‘We’re going across to watch the rugby – but we’re also going over to find Buck Shelford’s rucked out left testicle’.
The body part was the infamous victim of an aggressive ruck in Shelford’s second-ever All Black test – the ‘Battle of Nantes’ in 1986 where he also lost four teeth.
‘We’re going to bring back that taonga’ said Wells. ‘And also just watch the rugby’.
