A new book suggests the killer had help.
A new book claims Scott Watson had an accomplice when he killed Ben Smart and Olivia Hope.
Author Ian Wishart says his book Elementary includes previously unseen police evidence and the witness account of a boy who was eight years old at the time that disprove Watson’s claims he is innocent.
Smart, 21 and Hope, 17 disappeared after a 1997 New Year’s Eve party at Furneaux Lodge in the Marlborough Sounds.Their bodies have never been found.Watson was convicted of their murders in 1999 but has long protested his innocence.
‘Everything you think you know about the Scott Watson case is wrong’ Wishart said in a publicity statement for the book which went on sale on Friday.
‘An associate of Scott Watson is out there somewhere who may be involved in the killings and may know where the bodies of Ben and Olivia are’.
