Beer, bourbon and burnouts. Tattoos featuring skulls and demons. Luxuriant facial hair. Heavy metal T-shirts – throbbing V8s – tight black jeans. Tough-as women wearing leather and lace. Over ten half-hour episodes new TV2 series Bogans looks at many stereotypical bogan enthusiasms in considerable depth.
Over the course of ten weeks – himself – Fro and their mates offer a guided tour of their lives. Viewers will bear witness to all manner of bogan doings: an eight hour tattoo session – a burnout competition in Morrinsville – a Judas Priest concert – assorted drunken parties – a Ms Cadaver competition. Due care and attention will be paid to such enduring subcultural totems as home brewing – mateship and mullets and Snell also promises multiple references to ‘the greatest band in the world AC/DC’.
This last statement sets off some spirited background grumbling from Fro. ‘He says nah’ translates Snell. ‘Fro reckons Led Zeppelin are better. But he’s wrong’. More muttering from Fro follows – which is not good; this after all is a man skilled in the use of axes and broadswords.
