The next generation of electric cars from arch-rival brands could share the same electric motors under a bold plan from supplier Bosch.
The German parts supplier has revealed what it describes as a ‘start-up powertrain for electric vehicles’ a plug-in system designed to replace the engine in new cars.
Bosch hopes that carmakers will buy its off-the-shelf system instead of developing their own tech.
While brands such as Tesla – BMW and Nissan have plenty of experience with electric cars – companies with little experience in the battery-powered world may jump at the chance to put electric cars in their showrooms.
