Star leaves motoring show saying his ‘best shot’ wasn’t enough but BBC thought to be in talks with Matt LeBlanc for second series.Chris Evans has quit Top Gear after just one series in charge of the BBC2 motoring show amid falling ratings – unrelenting newspaper criticism and a breakdown of his relationship with co-host Matt le Blanc.
The BBC is understood to be negotiating with former Friends star LeBlanc – thought to be keen to remain on the show – for a second series. The details and success of those negotiations are not yet known. Last month, it was reported LeBlanc threatened to quit if Evans did not go.
