Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) said Thursday she believes the 2016 Democratic presidential primary was rigged for Hillary Clinton.

When asked by CNN’s Jake Tapper if she believed the Democratic primary was rigged in favor of Clinton – Warren replied with a simple ‘Yes’.

Tapper was asking Warren about former Democratic National Committee (DNC) chairwoman Donna Brazile’s new book in which she says she found evidence that Clinton’s campaign fixed the Democratic nomination system in her favor.

In an excerpt from her book that was provided to Politico – Brazile explains how she was tasked with investigating the DNC after hacked emails suggested the Clinton campaign fixed the nomination.

Brazile said she discovered an agreement between the DNC – the Clinton campaign and Clinton’s joint fundraising committee that said the campaign would ‘control the party’s finances – strategy and all the money it raised’.

The agreement was signed in August 2015 – almost a full year before Clinton became the party’s official nominee.

Warren said the allegations are a ‘real problem’ and called on new DNC chairman Tom Perez to unite the party.

Hillary Clinton’s tragic 2016 campaign faced withering criticism in the press – social media and now in Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes’s inside account Shattered.

From my vantage point as lead pollster for the Democratic nominees in 1992 and 2000 – part of the closing clutch of pollsters in 2004 and invited noodge in 2016 I have little quarrel with the harshest of these criticisms.

Malpractice and arrogance contributed mightily to the election of Donald Trump and its profound threat to our democracy.

So did the handling of the email server – paid Wall Street speeches – and the ‘deplorables’ comment.

And her unwillingness to challenge the excesses of big money and corporate influence left her exposed to attacks first by Bernie Sanders and then by Donald Trump and unable to offer credible promise of change.

Yet the accounts of Hillary Clinton are very incomplete – miss the reasons for her ambivalence and miss most of the big structural forces at work that made it hard for her to commit to a different path.

That is where we learn the most about the progressive debate ahead.

So someone has ghost-written another Hillary Clinton memoir.

My biggest question when I picked it up was: Did Hillary stiff the writer out of the final payment as she did Barbara Feinman – the real author of It Takes a Village?

You don’t have to read any further than the cover of the book to answer the question posed by its title: What Happened: Hillary Clinton.

Glutton for punishment I took a masochistic dive into its dark pages anyway.

It soon became apparent that Hillary shouldn’t have treated Feinman so churlishly.

What Happened would have greatly benefited from her stylistic enhancements.

The prose in this book is as brittle as the mind behind it.

Notice the lack of a question mark in the title.

This is a telling punctuational elision.

It signals that this text will not be an investigation into the dynamics behind the most perplexing election in American history.

Don’t skim these pages in search of a self-lacerating confession or an apologia.

What Happened reads more like a drive-by shooting rampage.

The book is a score-settling scattershot rant – enfilading anyone who stood in Clinton’s way – from Bernie Sanders to James Comey.

Amid Hillary’s hitlist of villains – even toothless Joe Biden gets gut-shot.

‘Does anybody really believe that?’ Sanders says Democrats have adopted his ideas – not the other way around.

Clinton made the assertion in her upcoming book ‘What Happened’ which comes out tomorrow.

‘No matter how bold and progressive my policy proposals were . . . Bernie would come out with something even bigger loftier and leftier – regardless of whether it was realistic or not’ Clinton wrote.

She also compared him to a crazy character in the film “Something About Mary” who had ludicrous business ideas.

Initially Sanders tried to brush off the former secretary of state’s criticism nicely – saying during a Sept. 6 appearance on CBS’ “Late Show” that he wanted to move on from the past.

‘Our job now is really not to go backwards.
It is to go forward’ he told host Stephen Colbert.
‘It is to create the kind of nation we know we can become.
We have enormous problems facing us and I think it’s a little bit silly to keep talking about 2016′.

Appearing the next day on MSNBC’s ‘All In With Chris Hayes’ however – Sanders was more cutting in his rebuttal.
