Huge salaries paid to bank executives are ‘obscene’ with workers denied a fair share of the spoils – First Union says.
BNZ chief executive Anthony Healy is the latest of the big bank bosses to have his salary revealed.
According to parent company National Australia Bank’s annual report Healy hauledin A$1.93 million (NZ$2.13m) in the year to September 30.
His predecessor Andrew Thorburn – who was promoted to chief executive of the NAB group – earned A$5.48m.
However, that was substantially less than the bank’s former boss George Frazis – who pocketed over $5m in both 2010 and 2011.In recent years, ANZ New Zealand chief executive David Hisco has been undisputed king of the well-heeled banker club.
Hisco earned A$4.55m in 2015 – or just over NZ$5m at current exchange rates.
(ed:..i’ve said it before..i’ll say it again..re-nationalise them..break them up..and turn them into community-banks..focusing on local needs/imperatives..
..and of course any/all profits made in new zealand stay in new zealand..eh..?..
..and also of course no more $5 million + ‘obscene’ salaries for the top-dogs..eh..?..)
