Be aware of sugar – minimize it and see it for what it is—a special treat for a rare occasion.
(ed:..these calls for a tax on sugar-drinks – though well-meaning – are meaningless..
the only way to lessen this main cause of obesity is to set maximum levels manufacturers of food/drinks are allowed to include in the muck they peddle..
anything else is just ambulances at the bottom of the cliff and will do nothing to address/lessen the widespread obesity in new zealand..
and the manufacturers that really grind my gears are the one who cloak/conceal the sugar-laden ‘muck’ they are flogging us in/behind ‘healthy’/’organic’-labels/claims..
and phoenix cola aren’t the only ones doing this – but it is them i had a recent encounter with..so..
at the recent ponsonby street-fair phoenix had a tasting-stall set up promoting/pimping their wares..
and before sipping i asked their representitive just how much sugar is in their organically-labelled (small!) bottles..
the answer was a disturbing ’19 grams’ – that is over half a bloody ounce of white-death in these/what are tastefully-labelled/’organic’ bottles of flavoured/sugar-laden water..
is it the sugar that is ‘organic’..?..you’d hafta ask..
and like i said – phoenix aren’t the only ones – and the only answer for consumers is to read the labels – and do the multiplication needed to ascertain just how much white death there is in their obesity-causing ‘muck’ – that they peddle as healthy food/drink..
as i said at the top – the only way to stop these duplicities being foisted on consumers is to set maximum-levels allowed..
anything else is a do-nothing joke..
over to you!..phoenix/et.al..)
