According to experts the tight hairstyle and its uber-trendy cousin – the top knot – could actually be causing men with luscious locks to lose their hair.
The problem is being related to traction alopecia – a type of gradual hair loss caused when hair is pulled tightly over months or years the Huffington Post has reported.
The tightly knotted man-bun pulls the hair causing it to thin. Too much man-bunning could also lead to the failure of the follicle to produce more hair.
In the US dermatologists are reportedly seeing top-knotted men with traction alopecia on average once or twice a week.
Apparently the affliction has even spread to the hipsters of Australia.
