Here’s a good place to start.
(ed:..and all i can add is to ‘read the labels’ – it is astonishing just how many food/drink products are peddled as ‘healthy’ – yet upon closer examination are just sugar-delivery vehicles – that contain eye-watering amounts of this ‘white-death’..
..and of course the proposed sugar-tax on fizzy drinks is a joke/will achieve nothing – the only way to stop these sugar-peddlers is to mandate by law the maximum amount of sugar allowed to be in any food/drink sold to unsuspecting customers/consumers –
– but the politicians both here and overseas are (currently) so ‘owned’ by the food/drink industries/lobbies – this will not happen – and so the obesity-epidemic will just continue to get worse..
so until this changes/politicians do what they should – reading labels is the only short-term solution to hand.
and of course those politicians patting themselves on the back for pushing this ‘joke’-solution of just a tax on fizzy-drinks – should be treated with the contempt they deserve..)
He is more of a forensic examiner of evidence than he is a purveyor of diets and his main finding is that much of the evidence has been buried.
He says in the 1960s it was fairly widely accepted that carbohydrates (especially sugar) boosted the production of fat and increased appetites.
It’s one of the reasons we use bread as a starter at meals – it prepares us to eat.
